The Republican chair of the Pennsylvania Senate Law and Justice Committee said he thinks more of his GOP colleagues could support marijuana legalization this year than have in the past, and that his panel needs to “take a lot of public input” on the issue.
New Hampshire’s Republican House majority leader said it might be “another decade” until the state legalizes marijuana, arguing that the “ship has sailed” on the issue for now after a bill failed last session and with the new governor opposing the reform.
Wisconsin’s Republican Senate majority leader said members of his caucus support legalizing medical cannabis, but cautioned that a plan from Assembly GOP leaders for state-run dispensaries “doesn’t seem to be the best way to do it.”
Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) is proposing to use medical cannabis revenue to fund free breakfast and lunch for public school students.
Department of Veterans Affairs Under Secretary for Health Shereef Elnahal said psychedelics reform support from Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for health and human services secretary, is “very encouraging” and he’d be “honored” to serve the new administration to “advance the agenda for veterans.”
A former Nebraska senator who is suing to block the state’s voter-approved medical cannabis program from launching is expanding the litigation to include more state officials he claims will violate federal law by proceeding.
