Yesterday, nearly 50 California cannabis shops previously only accessible to medical marijuana patients opened their doors to anyone over the age of 21 with a valid ID.
The state of California is still rolling out licenses, leaving major cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco in the dark for New Year’s Day sales, but at places like Berkeley Patients Group lines stretched around the block beginning at 6 a.m. Documentary filmmaker Claire Weissbluth went inside BPG to document the historic first day of recreational cannabis sales in California.
