Method Man didn’t jump into cannabis because it suddenly became a good business opportunity. Cannabis has been woven into his music, identity and creative universe since long before licensed dispensaries, celebrity brands and carefully staged product launches became part of the industry.
More than 30 years after the release of his landmark debut album, Tical, the Wu-Tang Clan legend is still finding new ways to expand the name.
His cannabis lifestyle brand, TICAL Official, has announced a new collaboration with Weedgets, introducing a white-and-gold edition of the company’s Maze-X Pipe. The release brings together one of hip-hop’s most enduring cannabis figures and a smoking accessory designed to put a modern spin on one of the oldest rituals in weed.
On paper, it’s another celebrity collaboration. In reality, Method Man’s relationship with cannabis runs much deeper than most.
TICAL Was a Cannabis Brand Before Cannabis Brands Existed
When Tical arrived in 1994, Method Man wasn’t laying the groundwork for a future licensing company. He was creating one of the defining albums of New York hip-hop’s golden era.
The album also introduced “tical” to millions of listeners as part of Method Man’s unmistakable vocabulary and cannabis-heavy world. It became a nickname, a cultural reference and eventually the foundation for something much bigger.
Today, TICAL stands for “Taking Into Consideration All Lives.” The name has evolved into a platform spanning cannabis, apparel, accessories and partnerships, but it has never lost its connection to the culture that created it.
That history matters.
The legal cannabis market has no shortage of celebrity names. Some collaborations feel natural. Others feel like a famous face was added to the packaging after the product was already finished. Consumers can usually tell the difference.
Method Man doesn’t need to manufacture a relationship with cannabis. The connection has been there throughout his career, from his early Wu-Tang verses and solo albums to his current role as an entrepreneur, actor and co-founder of TICAL Official.
As Cannabis Now previously reported, TICAL was built by a tight-knit team of Method Man’s longtime friends, including Nathaniel “Nutta” Vereen, Joshua “Raz” Rassin and Bryan “Z” Zabinski. The team initially self-funded the company, selected operating partners carefully and prioritized independent and Black-owned retailers during its early rollout.
That personal foundation has helped TICAL avoid feeling like another celebrity licensing exercise. Method Man may be the name recognized around the world, but the brand has always presented itself as a larger movement built around friendship, culture, quality and inclusion.
The Weedgets collaboration is the latest extension of that idea.
A New Route Through the Maze
Weedgets was founded by medical device inventor Michael Barenboym with the goal of applying more thoughtful design to smoking accessories.
Its Maze-X Pipe takes its name from the maze-style pathway inside the device. Instead of smoke traveling directly from the bowl to the mouthpiece, it moves through an extended internal coil. According to Weedgets, that process helps cool and filter the smoke before it reaches the throat without requiring water, batteries or electrical components.
It’s a simple concept hidden inside a more sophisticated piece of hardware.
The company says the Maze-X has received multiple industry awards and has been recognized by several cannabis publications. Weedgets also says it’s the only pipe endorsed by the American Cannabis Nurses Association.
For the TICAL edition, Weedgets dressed the piece in white and gold, giving it a clean, elevated appearance that separates it from the glass pipes and novelty pieces that have traditionally filled head-shop shelves.
“Weedgets is thrilled to partner with Method Man’s team at TICAL Official,” Barenboym said. “This partnership was a natural fit. TICAL Official is a brand rooted in authenticity and creativity, and we share a belief in making the everyday ritual more intentional.”
The word “ritual” is important here. For experienced consumers, smoking isn’t always just about getting from Point A to Point B as quickly as possible. Grinding the flower, packing a bowl and passing a pipe are familiar parts of the cannabis experience.
The accessory itself becomes part of that ritual.
“TICAL Official approaches everything we do with intention,” said Joshua Rassin, co-founder and creative director of TICAL Official. “The Maze-X was built around that same idea: a smoother, more considered smoking experience.”
Method Man’s Second Act Keeps Getting Bigger
There’s also something bigger happening around Method Man.
The gravelly-voiced MC who emerged as one of Wu-Tang Clan’s brightest stars has built the kind of second act few artists pull off successfully. While his place in hip-hop history has long been secure, he has continued expanding his reach as an actor, entrepreneur and cultural figure.
Method Man hasn’t abandoned the identity that made him famous. He has grown into it.
That gives TICAL a rare kind of cross-generational appeal. Older fans remember hearing Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and Tical when they first dropped. Younger audiences may know Method Man through streaming, television, film, social media or one of Wu-Tang’s seemingly endless cultural resurgences.
Cannabis connects those different chapters.
The plant was present when Method Man was helping reshape East Coast hip-hop in the 1990s. It remained part of his public identity as he moved between music and acting. Now, it sits at the center of a business intended to create products, partnerships and opportunities that reflect the culture behind the name.
That kind of longevity can’t be fabricated through marketing.
It’s also why TICAL’s partnerships carry more weight when they’re handled correctly. The brand doesn’t need to put Method Man’s face on everything. The stronger opportunity is selecting products that make sense within the world he has spent decades building.
A thoughtfully designed pipe certainly qualifies.
More Than a Logo on a Product
Celebrity cannabis collaborations tend to work best when both sides bring something meaningful to the table.
TICAL brings the cultural credibility, storytelling and instantly recognizable name. Weedgets brings patented technology and an established product platform. The collaboration isn’t simply an ordinary pipe with Method Man’s name attached to it. It offers a distinct design, functional technology and a visual identity created specifically for the partnership.
That doesn’t make it a medical device or remove the risks associated with inhaling combusted material. It does, however, show how smoking accessories are evolving alongside the larger cannabis market.
The days when consumers had to choose between a basic glass spoon and a giant, difficult-to-clean bong are long gone. Today’s accessory market includes precision vaporizers, carefully engineered pipes and display-worthy pieces designed for adults who want their cannabis gear to fit naturally into their homes.
The TICAL Official x Maze-X Pipe lands directly in that space.
It’s polished without being overly complicated and recognizable without turning into a piece of novelty merchandise. More than anything, it feels connected to the person and brand behind it.
Method Man helped make “Tical” part of cannabis language more than three decades ago. Today, TICAL Official is carrying that legacy forward through products and collaborations that connect the history of cannabis culture with its continuing evolution.
