Masses of people have been needlessly locked up. Millions more have been denied\u00a0a medicine\u00a0that may have saved their lives. And all of us have been cooked on this planet by fossil fuels and deforestation\u2014much of which could have been avoided by embracing industrial hemp. After a century of prohibition,\u00a0the crimes\u00a0against people (and the planet) are too\u00a0vast\u00a0to quantify.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, the\u00a0best we can do is tell the stories of cannabis and the people who are working to bring the plant out of the shadows and into the light.\u00a0The feature\u00a0documentary film,\u00a0<em>One Plant,\u00a0<\/em>does exactly that. This\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0a wonky policy film.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0a human story that hits the audience in the heart, frame after frame.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Director Jordan Berger lost his mother to substance use disorder. He was growing his first crop of medical cannabis for her when she passed. By the time he learned about the potential of this medicine to heal addiction, it was too late.\u00a0So,\u00a0he picked up his cameras and set out to\u00a0ensure\u00a0other families\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0suffer the same fate.\u00a0<em>One Plant\u00a0<\/em>is a beautiful tribute to Berger\u2019s mom,\u00a0but\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0also an indictment of everything prohibition has taken from us.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cannabisnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/oneplant.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"614\" src=\"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/oneplant-1024x614-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-73237\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>what\u2019s up, doc.<\/strong> The documentary drives home a simple truth: One plant underpins all sustainable innovations and therapeutic uses.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The film is organized into three parts: part one explores hemp fiber and the many useful products made from it; part two\u00a0zeroes in\u00a0on grain and hemp\u2019s role in nutrition; and part three examines cannabis flowers and their medicinal benefits.\u00a0From the spirited music to\u00a0the lush\u00a0photography and artful animation, Berger provides a steady hand as director.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As viewers, we learn that hemp-based tampons are healthier than the commercially available ones widely\u00a0used today, and that homes constructed with hempcrete can survive wildfires. We meet terminal cancer patients who are still alive because of medical weed, and companies producing flooring as beautiful as any made from wood. Most of all, we come to respect and admire the people making extraordinary sacrifices for the next generation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The documentary drives home a simple truth: One plant underpins\u00a0all of\u00a0these sustainable innovations and therapeutic uses.
