{"id":86273,"date":"2026-07-08T07:05:33","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T15:05:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/index.php\/2026\/07\/08\/most-marijuana-consumers-dont-believe-trump-administration-will-complete-rescheduling-this-year-poll-shows\/"},"modified":"2026-07-08T19:45:33","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T03:45:33","slug":"most-marijuana-consumers-dont-believe-trump-administration-will-complete-rescheduling-this-year-poll-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/index.php\/2026\/07\/08\/most-marijuana-consumers-dont-believe-trump-administration-will-complete-rescheduling-this-year-poll-shows\/","title":{"rendered":"Most Marijuana Consumers Don\u2019t Believe Trump Administration Will Complete Rescheduling This Year, Poll Shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p>As a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/inside-the-deas-marijuana-rescheduling-hearing-what-i-saw-who-was-missing-and-why-it-matters-op-ed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">hearing on Trump administration\u2019s federal marijuana rescheduling proposal<\/a> proceeds this month, a new poll shows that most cannabis consumers aren\u2019t optimistic that reform will be fully implemented by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche in April\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/federal-marijuana-rescheduling-announced-by-department-of-justice-months-after-trump-executive-order\/\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">issued an order that immediately reclassified state-licensed medical cannabis<\/a>, as well as marijuana products approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) to Schedule III.<\/p>\n<p>Under a separate order the acting attorney general signed, the ongoing hearing is considering more comprehensively moving marijuana to Schedule III\u2014but the new survey, conducted by cannabis telehealth platform NuggMD, shows that most consumers don\u2019t think that will happen by the time 2026 is over.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn April, medical cannabis was partially rescheduled, moved to a less-restricted category,\u201d the respondents were told. \u201cNow, the federal government is weighing whether to extend that change to all other cannabis, which remained federally prohibited.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you think that will happen by the end of the year?\u201d they were asked.<\/p>\n<p>A majority\u201452.5 percent\u2014said they do not think full cannabis rescheduling will happen by the end of the year, while 47.5 percent said they do expect to see the reform announced by then.<\/p>\n<p>The poll involved interviews with 1,063 cannabis consumers who live in state-legal markets from July 2-6 and has a margin of error of +\/- 3.01 percentage points.<\/p>\n<table dir=\"ltr\" border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" data-sheets-root=\"1\" data-sheets-baot=\"1\">\n<colgroup>\n<col width=\"395\" \/>\n<col width=\"78\" \/>\n<col width=\"97\" \/><\/colgroup>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"3\" rowspan=\"1\">Q: \u201cIn April, medical cannabis was partially rescheduled, moved to a less-restricted category. It\u2019s not entirely clear how long after that the judge will issue his recommendations to the agency\u2014and what the recommendation will be\u2014or how soon after that the DEA administrator will announce a final decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike many, I had doubts when the DEA announced the participants, but early coverage is largely positive, and the testimony the DEA put on record has been more convincing than I think many consumers and stakeholders expected,\u201d NuggMD CEO Charlie Russell told Marijuana Moment, referring to news that the agency has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/dea-and-fda-highlight-how-marijuana-is-safer-than-alcohol-and-opioids-during-rescheduling-hearings-opening-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">focusing testimony on the medical benefits of cannabis and its relative safety<\/a> compared to alcohol and other substances despite excluding reform supporters from participating in the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarly reports have increased my confidence that the hearing will result in full rescheduling,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/marijuana-moment-takes-ask-for-rescheduling-hearing-livestreaming-directly-to-dea-head-after-judge-says-he-wont-consider-request\/\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Marijuana Moment sent requests to DEA Chief Administrative Law Judge Derek Julius and to Terrance Cole, the DEA administrator,<\/a>\u00a0requesting they\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/marijuana-moment-asks-dea-judge-to-allow-livestreaming-of-rescheduling-hearing-for-transparent-public-access\/\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reverse a decision to prohibit the public from tuning into the cannabis hearing via livestream<\/a>.
