These designated spaces provide consumers with safe and legal options for cannabis consumption,\u201d NJ-CRC Chairwoman Dianna Houenou said in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether individuals cannot consume cannabis inside their homes or simply wish to consume cannabis legally and responsibly, these areas provide a practical solution,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are proud to support this next phase of safe-use infrastructure in our state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting on Monday at which NJ-CRC approved the endorsements, the chair called the action \u201ca long time coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The four approved businesses\u2014High Rollers Dispensary, SunnyTien Dispensary, Gynsyng and URB\u2019N Dispensary\u2014come from the application pool from the diversely owned licensee category.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApproved consumption area endorsement holders are expected to uphold rigorous standards to ensure that consumption areas remain secure, well-managed, and compliant with state law,\u201d the commission <a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/accounts\/NJCANNABIS\/bulletins\/3e88484\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p \/>\n<p>This comes about two weeks after NJ-CRC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/new-jersey-officials-are-now-accepting-marijuana-consumption-lounge-applications-from-all-dispensaries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">opened up applications to operate cannabis consumption lounges<\/a> from all licensed marijuana dispensaries.<\/p>\n<p>In January,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/new-jersey-is-now-accepting-applications-for-marijuana-consumption-lounge-licenses-with-social-equity-businesses-at-front-of-the-line\/\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">officials first started accepting applications from social equity marijuana licensees<\/a>\u00a0before opening it up to diversely owned businesses and microbusinesses in April.<\/p>\n<p>The endorsement application fee is $1,000, consisting of $200 for the initial submission and another $800 that would be paid upon approval. Medical cannabis patients would be able to bring their own marijuana products.<\/p>\n<p>NJ-CRC members have said they expect the addition of cannabis consumption areas will have a positive economic benefit for the state by generating more tax revenue from marijuana sales and annual fees.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, New Jersey officials recently completed the curriculum of a no-cost marijuana training academy that\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/new-jersey-officials-celebrate-completion-of-marijuana-training-academy-curriculum-to-help-people-enter-the-legal-industry\/\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">meant to support entrepreneurs interested in entering the cannabis industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, New Jersey Senate President Nick Scutari (D) recently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/new-jersey-lawmakers-consider-recriminalizing-some-marijuana-purchases-and-sales\/\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">filed a bill that would re-criminalize purchasing marijuana from unlicensed sources<\/a>\u2014one of the latest attempts to crack down on the illicit market and steer adults toward licensed retailers.<\/p>\n<p>In March, a former New Jersey Senate leader unsuccessfully ran for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination this year said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/former-new-jersey-senator-running-for-governor-says-it-is-time-to-let-medical-marijuana-patients-grow-their-own-plants\/\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u201cit is time\u201d to give medical marijuana patients an option to grow their own cannabis plants<\/a>\u00a0for personal use. He also pledged to expand clemency for people impacted by marijuana criminalization if elected, and he expressed support for the establishment of cannabis consumption lounges.<\/p>\n<p>The comments from Steve Sweeney, who was the longest-serving Senate president in the state\u2019s history, on home grow depart from what current Gov.
