It also would appoint a state body to regulate cannabis-related businesses in North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>In order to make it on a ballot, the petition\u2019s backers will have to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.nd.gov\/news\/howe-approves-petition-format-statutory-measure-relating-legalization-cannabis-and-related\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">collect<\/a> at least 15,582 valid signatures by April 25, 2025, according to a Thursday announcement by the Secretary of State\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>If the signatures are turned in by July 8 of this year, the measure will be up for a vote in the general election in November.<\/p>\n<p>If the circulators don\u2019t make that deadline but still submit the signatures by April 25, 2025, then the measure will be on the ballot for the next statewide election, which is expected to take place in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.indeed.com\/viewjob?jk=671de2a89edfa980\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">job ad<\/a>\u00a0posted to Indeed says supporters of the measure are hiring North Dakota residents to circulate petitions in Bismarck, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Fargo, Grand Forks, Jamestown, Minot and Williston.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/neweconomicfrontier\/posts\/pfbid02ar4zHmv1tdcE8FBMhmCP9nz9K3iZ32Vn2TyZgvttqiVUicCNNkrev5V8gufidJGvl\" data-width=\"552\" \/>\n<p>North Dakota voters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/north-dakota-voters-reject-marijuana-legalization-ballot-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rejected a statewide measure to legalize marijuana<\/a> in 2022, with 55 percent of voters opposing the measure.
