\n<\/span>The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved a resolution condemning Russia\u2019s incarceration of U.S. citizen Marc Fogel over cannabis<\/span><\/a>\u2014pointing out that he \u201cdid not wish to use opioids to manage his pain and was instead prescribed medical marijuana for pain management.\u201d<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) filed a bill to facilitate marijuana expungements<\/span><\/a>\u2014provisions of which Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has repeatedly said he wants to merge into cannabis banking legislation that he intends to pass this year.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) claimed during a hearing that National Institute on Drug Abuse Director Nora Volkow is \u201cadamantly opposed\u201d to rescheduling marijuana<\/span><\/a>\u2014but NIDA endorsed federal health officials\u2019 recommendation to move cannabis out of Schedule I and she has repeatedly said that the current classification impedes research.<\/span>

\n<\/span>A new Gallup poll shows that nearly one in 10 Americans uses marijuana at least 10 times a month<\/span><\/a>\u2014and that there are \u201clittle differences in usage\u201d between legal and non-legal states, suggesting that \u201ccriminalization does little to curtail\u201d cannabis consumption.<\/span><\/p>\n
