{"id":67320,"date":"2023-08-02T09:25:58","date_gmt":"2023-08-02T17:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/index.php\/2023\/08\/02\/feds-recommend-buying-a-map-to-avoid-bringing-marijuana-into-national-forests-in-minnesota-following-legalization\/"},"modified":"2023-08-02T19:46:31","modified_gmt":"2023-08-03T03:46:31","slug":"feds-recommend-buying-a-map-to-avoid-bringing-marijuana-into-national-forests-in-minnesota-following-legalization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/index.php\/2023\/08\/02\/feds-recommend-buying-a-map-to-avoid-bringing-marijuana-into-national-forests-in-minnesota-following-legalization\/","title":{"rendered":"Feds Recommend Buying A Map To Avoid Bringing Marijuana Into National Forests In Minnesota Following Legalization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/MM_Bill_Tracker_V5_blank-3.jpg\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1500\"> <\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Forest Service is reminding people that Minnesota\u2019s new marijuana legalization law enacted this week does not mean people can possess or use cannabis at national forests in the state\u2014so it recommends buying a map to know where you can and can\u2019t indulge.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday\u2014the same day that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/minnesota-adults-can-now-legally-possess-and-grow-marijuana-with-indian-tribes-launching-early-sales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">adult-use marijuana legalization took effect in Minnesota<\/a>\u2014the Forest Service issued an alert, notifying the public that possessing any amount of cannabis \u201cis still prohibited on all National Forest lands and at all National Forest campgrounds and facilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForest officials ask visitors to be mindful of National Forest System boundaries and to become familiar with relevant federal and state regulations prior to visiting the Chippewa and\/or Superior National Forests,\u201d it says.<\/p>\n<p>The agency, which also sent out a notice last month to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/u-s-forest-service-says-state-marijuana-legalization-drives-uptick-in-positive-thc-tests-for-federal-workers-as-perceptions-have-shifted-dramatically\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remind federal workers that they remain barred from using marijuana<\/a> even in legal states, said that it\u2019s received questions from visitors about the \u201clegality of marijuana use on public lands\u201d since the Minnesota legislature moved to end prohibition at the state level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile recreational cannabis use may be legal in the State of Minnesota, effective August 1, 2023, Chippewa and Superior National Forest officials are reminding visitors that it is illegal on National Forest System lands,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>An FAQ section <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/alerts\/superior\/alerts-notices\/?aid=82009\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explains<\/a> how national forests are federally regulated and, therefore, federal law applies and supersedes the state\u2019s newly implemented policy.<\/p>\n<p>For people curious about where exactly the national forest boundary is to inform their travel, the Forest Service says that \u201cmaps are available at our all of our District Ranger stations and to purchase on-line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agency is urging people to be \u201cmindful\u201d and \u201cbecome familiar with relevant federal and state regulations prior to visiting the Chippewa and Superior National Forests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota\u2019s legalization law has also recently caught the attention of another federal agency: the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).<\/p>\n<p>Just hours after Gov. It will be the primary regulatory body that will oversee the market and for which the governor is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/minnesota-governor-seeks-director-for-states-new-marijuana-regulatory-agency-to-oversee-legalization-rollout\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">actively seeking an executive director<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another body that has been instituted is the Cannabis Expungement Board, which will\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/minnesota-marijuana-expungement-process-is-underway-following-legalization-being-signed-into-law-officials-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">facilitate record sealing for people with eligible marijuana convictions<\/a>\u00a0on their records. The review process for eligible cases will commence on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The state has shown that it\u2019s eager to expeditiously stand up the industry. Even before Walz signed the reform bill, the state\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/minnesota-governor-says-hell-sign-marijuana-legalization-bill-next-week-as-state-launches-new-site-for-regulatory-agency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched a website that serves as a hub for information<\/a>\u00a0about the new law.
