PHOTO Kush &amp; Canvases<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4><strong>Roll Up and Roll Out on the Cannabis Experience<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Toking tourists and weed-loving locals alike can now enjoy the sights of Denver on the country\u2019s first licensed cannabis consumption bus. Founded by local entrepreneur Sarah Woodson, the Cannabis Experience is meant to provide safe, legal cannabis tours, airport transportation and private party buses that are cannabis friendly, as well as visits to cannabis farms and dispensaries. Private party bus rentals will also offer food and art themes such as \u201cToking and Tacos\u201d and \u201cRiNo Mural Tours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Cannabis Experience is Woodson\u2019s latest foray into cannabis tourism in the city. The former consultant for Marijuana Industry Group also founded the highly popular consumption-friendly cannabis art class, Kush &amp; Canvases, and says she is \u201chelping move the needle forward in the legalization fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Cannabis industry is extremely regulated and not diverse. It took us almost a year to become operational, so we\u2019re excited to be the country\u2019s first safe, legal, licensed mobile hospitality business,\u201d Woodson says. \u201cWe\u2019re social equity and African American. We\u2019ll have amazing tours, and grow our fleet over the next 24 months and work on expanding into other local cities such as Aurora. We\u2019re proud to be in the cannabis industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although there have been previous cannabis buses operating in Colorado, they weren\u2019t officially permitted and were all shut down by authorities. Located in Logan Square, in the 2500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, the <a href=\"https:\/\/grasshopperclub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grasshopper Club<\/a> is owned by Dianne Brewer and her two sons, Matthew and Chuck, along with some \u201cminor silent investors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have a relationship or get support or have an arrangement with one of the large, publicly-owned cannabis companies,\u201d Matthew told <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7chicago.com\/amp\/black-owned-dispensary-chicago-near-me-the-grasshopper-club-weed\/12815957\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>ABC 7 Chicago<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m working on the accounting aspects of this business,\u201d Dianne said. \u201cI\u2019m totally excited. I retired 12 years ago and here I am working again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Chuck, the opening is something of a full circle, as he was arrested for cannabis possession a few times in his youth. \u201cFor me to be doing this legally with my brother and my mother\u2026it\u2019s priceless,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>When <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabisnow.com\/illinois-kicks-off-legalization-the-right-way-with-pardons\/\">Illinois<\/a>\u2019 Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act went into effect in 2020, \u201csocial equity\u201d provisions were included in legislation to help communities harmed by past drug policies access the economic benefits of cannabis legalization. But, according to Dianne, it\u2019s been a struggle for some, and her family has pledged to support other African Americans to open more independent dispensaries. \u201cThey call it social equity, but you\u2019ve got to have the money to be able to open, and many African Americans don\u2019t have that money,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>The Brewer family plans to open a second Chicago-based dispensary this summer.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cannabisnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/cannabis-industry-collapse-taxes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/cannabis-industry-collapse-taxes.jpg\" alt=\"California cannabis\" class=\"wp-image-58202\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">PHOTO Konrad<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4><strong>Cannabis Sales Drop in California<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>According to the latest statistics released by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (DTFA), annual cannabis sales in the Golden State declined in 2022 for the first time since its adult-use market launched in 2018, reports <a href=\"https:\/\/mjbizdaily.com\/californias-annual-cannabis-sales-fell-in-2022-for-the-first-time-since-adult-use-launch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>MJBiz<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The fourth quarter\u2019s taxable sales fell 8.2% to $5.3 billion from the $5.77 reported in the same period last year, marking the third consecutive quarterly decline. Additionally, tax revenue was close to $1.1 billion in 2022, a 21% decrease from around $1.4 billion in 2021.
