Andy Smith (D), while the Senate companion is being carried by Sen. Kelly Morrison (D). These developments come as legislators <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/another-minnesota-housecommittee-approves-marijuana-legalization-bill-with-senate-panel-considering-amendments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">work expediently to enact marijuana legalization<\/a> in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new proposals, a \u201cPsychedelic Medicine Task Force\u201d would be established in order to \u201cadvise the legislature on the legal, medical, and policy issues associated with the legalization of psychedelic medicine in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I want to give a HUGE thank you to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/West4MN?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">@West4MN<\/a> for signing on, making this a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/bipartisan?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">#bipartisan<\/a> bill!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rep. Andy Smith (@AndySmithMN) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AndySmithMN\/status\/1626363365453864961?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">February 16, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p \/>\n<p>The 23-member task force would have to consist of officials and experts, including the governor or a designee, the health commissioner, two appointees from House and Senate leadership, the state attorney general or a designee, two tribal representatives, people with expertise in substance misuse treatment, public health policy experts, military veterans with mental health conditions and more.<\/p>\n<p>Members would be required to \u201csurvey existing studies in the scientific literature on the therapeutic efficacy of psychedelic medicine in the treatment of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and bipolar disorder, and any other mental health conditions and medical conditions for which a psychedelic medicine may provide an effective treatment option,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/bills\/bill.php?b=Senate&amp;f=SF1954&amp;ssn=0&amp;y=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bill<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/bills\/bill.php?b=House&amp;f=HF1884&amp;ssn=0&amp;y=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">text<\/a> says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPsychedelic medicine may include but is not limited to the use of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), psilocybin, mescaline, LSD, bufotenine, DMT, 5-MeO-DMT, 2C-B, ibogaine, salvinorin A, and ketamine,\u201d it continues.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This task force would establish a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Psychedelic?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">#Psychedelic<\/a> Medicine Task Force to advise the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/mnleg?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">#mnleg<\/a> on &#8220;the legal, medical, and policy issues associated with the legalization of psychedelic medicine in the state.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Full Text here: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FlylSUe94H\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">https:\/\/t.co\/FlylSUe94H<\/a><\/p>\n<p>(2\/5)<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rep. That includes marijuana legalization legislation that\u2019s moved through 10 House committees and seven Senate panels so far.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota is far from the only state where legislators are taking up psychedelics reform this year.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, for example, a Washington State Senate committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/washington-senators-strip-psilocybin-bill-of-major-provisions-with-advocates-blaming-governor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">voted to dramatically overhaul to a psilocybin services bill<\/a>, removing sections that would have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/washington-lawmakers-file-new-psilocybin-legalization-bill-for-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">legalized use of the psychedelic drug by adults<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Oklahoma lawmakers approved bill in committee last week to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/oklahoma-house-committee-approves-psilocybin-bill-protecting-patients-from-prosecution-and-promoting-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promote research into the therapeutic potential of psilocybin<\/a> while providing legal protections against prosecution for people with eligible conditions who possess the psychedelic.<\/p>\n<p>A Hawaii House committee\u00a0approved legislation last week\u00a0to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/hawaii-senate-committees-approve-marijuana-legalization-bills-and-house-panel-passes-psychedelics-research-measure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promote research into psilocybin and MDMA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa, Missouri, New Hampshire and Utah are also some of the latest states where\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/psychedelics-reform-developments-in-even-more-states-from-utah-to-new-hampshire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawmakers are working to advance the issue<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/virginia-lawmakers-reject-bill-to-allow-psilocybin-access-for-medical-use\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawmakers rejected a bill last month<\/a> that would have allow people with serious mental health conditions to possess and use psilocybin mushrooms with a doctor\u2019s recommendation. Then, last week, a Virginia Senate-passed measure to create a psilocybin advisory board and reschedule the psychedelic was killed in a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/virginia-gop-house-lawmakers-kill-marijuana-sales-and-psilocybin-rescheduling-bills-that-passed-senate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0committee of the GOP-controlled House of Delegates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Legislators in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/lawmakers-in-three-more-states-file-psychedelics-reform-bills-for-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Connecticut and Massachusetts<\/a>\u00a0have also filed bills to revise laws governing entheogenic plants and fungi.<\/p>\n<p>New York Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal (D) filed legislation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/new-york-lawmakers-file-psychedelics-legalization-bill-for-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to legalize certain psychedelics<\/a>\u00a0like psilocybin and ibogaine for adults 21 and older. Gov.
