Pete Sessions (R-TX) raised eyebrows by comparing legalization to slavery, saying cannabis \u201chas been advocated by people who were in it to make money\u201d and \u201cslavery made money also and was a terrible circumstance that this country and the world went through for many, many years.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/kentucky-governor-signs-executive-orders-allowing-medical-marijuana-possession-from-other-states-and-regulating-delta-8-thc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> signed an executive order allowing patients to possess medical cannabis purchased legally in other states. He is also moving to regulate delta-8 THC products.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Because he can\u2019t change the law or direct police not to enforce it, the governor is\u00a0 granting a \u201cfull, complete, and conditional pardon\u201d to qualifying patients instead.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/nearly-seven-in-ten-americans-back-marijuana-legalization-including-majority-of-republicans-latest-gallup-poll-finds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gallup poll shows that nearly seven out of ten Americans<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> support legalizing marijuana\u2014including majorities of Democrats, Republicans and independents, as well as every age group.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/aoc-leads-lawmakers-in-pushing-biden-to-extend-marijuana-pardons-to-immigrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Chuy Garcia (D-IL)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> led a coalition of lawmakers in sending a letter urging President Joe Biden to extend his marijuana pardons to immigrants with citizenship status issues and to \u201cprioritize\u201d full descheduling of cannabis.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/advocates-urge-congress-to-reject-alcohol-model-for-marijuana-regulations-criticizing-tobacco-funded-groups-hearing-participation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">coalition of drug policy reform and public health advocates led by the Parabola Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> sent a letter criticizing congressional leaders for inviting the Coalition for Cannabis Policy, Education, and Regulation\u2014which is funded by tobacco and alcohol companies\u2014to testify at a marijuana hearing.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/oregon-psilocybin-business-bans-approved-by-voters-in-cities-and-counties-across-the-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Voters in 27 Oregon counties and 114 cities and towns<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> saw local measures to ban psilocybin services businesses on their November ballots, and the vast majority of those passed\u2014but most of the state\u2019s most populous cities aren\u2019t even considering bans.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>\/ FEDERAL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/50d3433f5e30\/safehouse-legal-update-the-urgency-is-ever-present-5901095\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Department of Justice<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and lawyers for a proposed safe consumption site for illegal drugs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania held a status conference before a federal judge in an ongoing legal dispute over the facility.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/news-events\/press-announcements\/fda-announces-preliminary-assessment-certain-naloxone-products-have-potential-be-safe-and-effective\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Food and Drug Administration<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> issued a preliminary assessment that certain naloxone products can be switched from prescription status to nonprescription status.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomDaschle\/status\/1592641825189548032\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tweeted about the participation of the Coalition for Cannabis Policy, Education, and Regulation, for which he serves as co-chair, in a congressional hearing, saying, \u201cExecutive Director @AndrewCPEAR\u2019s testimony was a fantastic culmination of the work that @CPEARcoalition has been doing to bring facts and data to a strong federal #cannabis regulatory system. Lawmakers have the opportunity to make history before the end of this year.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EleanorNorton\/status\/1592175875126022145\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tweeted, \u201cLast week, Maryland voted to legalize and commercialize recreational marijuana. That state is home to @RepAndyHarrisMD, author of the undemocratic and harmful rider that prohibits DC from using its local funds to commercialize recreational marijuana.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>\/ STATES<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitalstrategies.org\/governor-tom-wolf-signs-fentanyl-test-strips-legislation-to-reduce-overdose-deaths-in-pennsylvania\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pennsylvania<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Gov. Tom Wolf (D) held a ceremonial signing of a bill to legalize fentanyl test strips.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovEvers\/status\/1592344928507813888\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wisconsin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0 Gov. Tony Evers (D) tweeted, \u201cAn overwhelming majority of Wisconsinites support restoring #Roe and legalizing marijuana.
