\n<\/span>A <\/span>large-scale spending bill filed by congressional leaders<\/span><\/a> contains a rider that continues to block Washington, D.C. from being able to legalize recreational marijuana sales. It also extends a separate provision protecting state medical cannabis laws from federal interference, however.<\/span>

\n<\/span>New York regulators<\/span><\/a> are set to approve a plan on Thursday to let people with prior marijuana convictions in their family get a head start on running recreational dispensaries\u2014before current medical cannabis operators can open up to the adult-use market.<\/span>

\n<\/span>The <\/span>Hawaii Senate<\/span><\/a> unanimously passed a bill to create a working group to study the therapeutic benefits of psilocybin mushrooms and develop a \u201clong-term strategic plan\u201d to ensure that the psychedelic is accessible for medical use.<\/span>

\n<\/span>A <\/span>South Carolina House Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs subcommittee<\/span><\/a> adopted an amendment to add medical marijuana to a bill on patient access to investigational drugs during epidemics and pandemics.<\/span>

\n<\/span>Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-CO)<\/span><\/a> keeps bringing up his marijuana banking bill in Rules Committee hearings on unrelated legislation. After he jokingly lamented that it\u2019s not in the new omnibus spending bill, Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) replied, \u201cI don\u2019t know how we missed it, Ed.\u201d<\/span>

\n<\/span>Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA)<\/span><\/a> filed a bill to codify protections for Department of Veterans Affairs doctors and military veteran patients to discuss the potential benefits of medical cannabis.<\/span>
