\n<\/span>Several military veterans service organizations<\/span><\/a> called on Congress to ease restrictions on medical cannabis access and research at a series of recent joint hearings of the House and Senate Veterans Affairs committees.<\/span>

\n<\/span>Wisconsin\u2019s Republican Assembly majority leader<\/span><\/a> said it\u2019s \u201clikely\u201d the state will legalize marijuana \u201cat some point\u201d\u2014but he thinks medical cannabis legislation has a better shot in the near term.<\/span>

\n<\/span>A <\/span>Wyoming representative<\/span><\/a> who is sponsoring a marijuana decriminalization bill says it won\u2019t get a vote this session.<\/span>

\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>The <\/span>Department of Justice<\/span><\/a> now has until May 9 to reveal its position in a case about the legality of safe consumption sites for illegal drugs\u2014the latest delay on a brief that was initially due back in November.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Secretary of State Anthony Blinken<\/span><\/a> said the U.S. government is \u201cdoing everything we can\u201d to aid Americans detained in Russia\u2014including basketball player Brittney Griner, who was jailed after allegedly being caught at an airport with cannabis vape cartridges.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX)<\/span><\/a> said she is pressing the State Department to focus on helping to free Brittney Griner from Russian detention over an alleged cannabis offense.<\/span>

Lauren Boebert (R-CO)<\/span><\/a> tweeted, \u201cI enjoyed visiting Formation Ag and learning about their work producing machinery necessary to convert hemp into a variety of industrial products. It\u2019s great to see such innovative businesses in Colorado\u2019s Third District!\u201d<\/span>

\n<\/span>Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA)<\/span><\/a> tweeted, \u201cBlack Americans are four times more likely to be arrested and six times more likely to go to jail for marijuana-related offenses. It\u2019s time we federally legalize cannabis and work to undo decades of injustice against Black Americans.\u201d<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>\/ STATES<\/b>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>South Dakota<\/span><\/a> Gov. Kristi Noem (R) signed several medical marijuana reform bills into law. Separately, a <\/span>legislative conference committee<\/span><\/a> is set to reconcile versions of a bill that could ban or limit medical cannabis home cultivation. Meanwhile, the <\/span>Senate<\/span><\/a> defeated legislation that would have limited where medical marijuana could be used.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Kansas\u2019s<\/span><\/a> attorney general issued an opinion saying delta-8 THC is illegal unless derived from hemp and, even if so, products containing it must be limited to 0.3 percent total THC.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Indiana<\/span><\/a> Democratic secretary of state candidate Destiny Scott Wells spoke about how other states are generating tax revenue with marijuana legalization. She also <\/span>tweeted<\/span><\/a>, \u201cHoosiers are overwhelmingly in favor of moving forward on cannabis, yet Indiana is behind our neighbor states as they take advantage of economic development from its legalization.\u201d<\/span>

\n<\/span>The <\/span>New Jersey<\/span><\/a> Senate approved a bill to let medical cannabis patients under 18 years of age to have up to four designated caregivers<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>New York\u2019s<\/span><\/a> Assembly majority leader discussed efforts to implement marijuana legalization.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Oklahoma<\/span><\/a> House leaders announced a plan to revise medical cannabis rules, and the <\/span>House Alcohol, Tobacco and Controlled Substances Committee<\/span><\/a> approved several related bills.<\/span>

\n<\/span>The <\/span>Illinois<\/span><\/a> House assistant majority leader filed a bill to consolidate marijuana regulatory agencies.<\/span>

\n<\/span>A <\/span>Pennsylvania<\/span><\/a> representative tweeted, \u201cSmall marijuana convictions can keep you from affordable housing, federal and state aid, and even chances at a job. Medical marijuana patients are being denied a job based on their consumption of cannabis. This war on drugs needs to head in the right direction.\u201d<\/span>
