That breaks with most polls of the public, which has consistently shown that progressives are more likely to favor reform compared to conservatives.<\/p>\n<p>Another 43 percent of GOP members said that they oppose legalization in the new survey, whereas just 14 percent of Democrats said they\u2019re opposed to the policy change.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/werthpublicrelations\/posts\/10159440305351904\" data-width=\"552\" \/>\n<p>Political divides become even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gongwerwerthpoll.com\/results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sharper<\/a> when it comes to adjacent issues like home grow. Seventy-one percent of Democrats said they\u2019re in favor of allowing adults to grow for personal use, compared to just 21 percent of Republicans.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_51775\" style=\"width: 668px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-51775\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-51775\" src=\"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Screen-Shot-2021-11-05-at-2.47.42-PM-1024x593-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"658\" height=\"381\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-51775\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Via Gongwer Werth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Seventy-one percent of Democratic legislators said adults should be able to grow for commercial use, whereas 86 percent of Republicans said \u201cno\u201d to that proposal.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_51776\" style=\"width: 658px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-51776\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-51776\" src=\"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Screen-Shot-2021-11-05-at-2.47.49-PM-1024x534-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"648\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-51776\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Via Gongwer Werth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Asked about whether legalization would lead to addiction issues, 74 percent of GOP members said it would, while only 21 percent of Democrats agreed and 50 percent disagreed.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_51777\" style=\"width: 659px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-51777\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-51777\" src=\"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Screen-Shot-2021-11-05-at-2.47.56-PM-1024x583-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"649\" height=\"369\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-51777\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Via Gongwer Werth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The poll comes days after Ohio voters in seven more cities <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/voters-in-seven-ohio-cities-approve-marijuana-decriminalization-ballot-measures-with-seven-others-defeated\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approved local ballot initiatives to decriminalize cannabis<\/a> and seven others rejected the reform proposals.<\/p>\n<p>A pair of Ohio Republican lawmakers also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/republican-ohio-lawmaker-announces-marijuana-legalization-bill-reflecting-recent-bipartisan-shift-on-issue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently announced a bill to legalize cannabis<\/a>, breaking from the norm of Democrats leading the charge on reform in the state.<\/p>\n<p>In July, Democratic lawmakers in Ohio\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/ohio-lawmakers-officially-file-marijuana-legalization-bill-in-historic-first-for-the-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">formally introduced a bill to legalize marijuana<\/a>\u00a0possession, production and sales\u2014the first effort of its kind in the state legislature.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, an activist campaign recently cleared a final hurdle to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/ohio-marijuana-activists-cleared-to-collect-signatures-for-2022-legalization-ballot-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">begin collecting signatures for a 2022 ballot initiative<\/a>\u00a0to legalize marijuana statewide.<\/p>\n<p>The Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol (CTRMLA)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/ohio-lawmakers-officially-file-marijuana-legalization-bill-in-historic-first-for-the-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched its ballot effort in July<\/a>.
