But unlike measures approved in other cities, it doesn\u2019t immediately make any changes to enforcement practices.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>\/ FEDERAL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RepJeffries\/posts\/416744086483648\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">House of Representatives<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> approved a bill to eliminate the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booker.senate.gov\/news\/press\/senate-sponsors-laud-house-passage-of-equal-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sponsors of the Senate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> companion bill urged their colleagues to support its advancement in that chamber.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ReElectNydia\/status\/1442946971233185792\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">House Small Business Committee Chairwoman Nydia Velazquez (D-NY)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tweeted, \u201cI\u2019m grateful to see Los Angeles dismiss more marijuana convictions \u2014 now let\u2019s do it nationally. We must pass the #MOREAct to federally decriminalize marijuana and work to undo the harm criminalization has caused in communities of color.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepThomasMassie\/status\/1442968395901816832\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tweeted, \u201cThe MORE Act would: 1. Remove the federal prohibition on marijuana 2. Expunge prior convictions of marijuana crimes 3. Tax marijuana 4. Set up a new government spending program Tomorrow in judiciary committee, I\u2019ll be offering an amendment to remove the tax and spend provisions.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FrankPallone\/status\/1442980575833477120\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tweeted, \u201cTomorrow, Congress will be taking the next step toward ending the federal marijuana ban when @HouseJudiciary begins consideration of the #MOREAct, which @HouseDemocrats passed last year. It\u2019s past time we fix our country\u2019s broken marijuana laws and restore justice.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepCohen\/status\/1442931022060871683\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tweeted, \u201cAfter decades of working to end the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine, we\u2019ve finally passed the EQUAL Act. Tate Reeves (R) said a special session to pass a medical cannabis bill could be called soon.\u00a0 Meanwhile, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/yallpolitics.com\/2021\/09\/28\/legislative-black-caucus-holds-medical-marijuana-hearings-ahead-of-potential-special-session\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Legislative Black Caucus\u2019s Special Select Committee<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> held a hearing on medical marijuana.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mgaleg.maryland.gov\/mgawebsite\/Committees\/Details?cmte=scr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow
