That doubles the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/massachusetts-marijuana-sales-exceed-1-billion-since-adult-use-sales-launched-regulators-announce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sales total that the commission reported last November<\/a>, according to the state\u2019s seed-to-sale tracking system.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_49322\" style=\"width: 781px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-49322\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-49322\" src=\"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/240413359_2987965878158339_7038854087137640214_n-1024x366-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"771\" height=\"275\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-49322\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Via CCC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAs the Commission reflects on our four years of work, I hope the Commonwealth is proud of the agency we have built and the new industry that has been introduced and established,\u201d Commission Executive Director Shawn Collins <a href=\"https:\/\/masscannabiscontrol.com\/2021\/09\/massachusetts-marijuana-establishments-surpass-2-billion-in-gross-sales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> in a press release. \u201cThis milestone speaks to the success of licensees that have interacted with the Commission from the application stage, maintained compliance with our strict regulations, and contribute every day to communities across the Commonwealth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis number also underscores the entire agency\u2019s tireless efforts, particularly those of our hardworking staff, to thoughtfully regulate a safe, accessible, and effective adult-use marketplace that keeps critical tenets of our mission\u2014public health, public safety, and equity, among others\u2014front of mind,\u201d Collins added.<\/p>\n<p>While advocates are encouraged that the state\u2019s cannabis market has continued to thrive\u2014especially in spite of the coronavirus pandemic\u2014activists have continue to push regulators to ensure that the industry is equitable and promotes participation by people most impacted by prohibition.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_49323\" style=\"width: 750px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-49323\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-49323\" src=\"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-01-at-2.10.25-PM-1024x533-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"385\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-49323\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Via CCC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>These sales figures reflect trends that have been observed in other state-legal markets.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">On 9\/1\/17, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MA_Cannabis?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">@MA_Cannabis<\/a> set out to regulate cannabis access in Massachusetts. On our fourth birthday, we recognize the hard work of many who got us here today, plus an additional milestone: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/akAnWXKbZk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">https:\/\/t.co\/akAnWXKbZk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (@MA_Cannabis) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MA_Cannabis\/status\/1433146887490650118?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">September 1, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p \/>\n<p>Arizona brought in about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/arizona-brings-in-21-million-in-marijuana-tax-revenue-for-july-with-recreational-sales-catching-up-to-medical\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$21 million in medical and adult-use marijuana tax revenue<\/a> in July, state officials recently reported on a new webpage that enables people to more easily track how the industry is evolving.<\/p>\n<p>California collected\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/california-shattered-marijuana-tax-revenue-record-in-latest-fiscal-year-state-reports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">about $817 million in adult-use marijuana tax revenue<\/a> during the 2020-2021 fiscal year, state officials estimated last week. That\u2019s 55 percent more cannabis earnings for state coffers than was generated in the prior fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>A recent scientific analysis of sales data in Alaska, Colorado, Oregon and Washington State found that marijuana purchases \u201chave\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/marijuana-sales-increased-in-multiple-states-during-covid-study-finds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increased more during the COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>\u00a0than in the previous two years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In July alone, at least\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/four-states-report-record-breaking-marijuana-sales-in-july\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three states saw record-breaking sales<\/a>\u00a0for recreational cannabis. The same goes for Missouri\u2019s medical marijuana program.<\/p>\n<p>Illinois saw\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/illinois-sets-yet-another-record-for-monthly-marijuana-sales-with-retailers-citing-a-lollapalooza-boost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nearly $128 million in recreational cannabis purchases<\/a> in July\u2014more than double the total monthly sales from a year ago. July marks the fifth consecutive month that sales in Illinois\u2019s adult-use market have topped $100 million. If the trend continues, the state is on track to see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/illinois-will-blow-past-1-billion-in-legal-marijuana-sales-in-2021-chamber-of-commerce-president-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more than $1 billion in adult-use marijuana sales<\/a>\u00a0in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Adult-use marijuana sales in Maine reached $9.4 million in July\u2014a 45 percent increase from the prior month\u2019s record.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/michigan-marijuana-sales-broke-another-record-in-july-state-data-shows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">marijuana sales broke another record in July<\/a> with more than $171 million in cannabis transactions, according to data from the state\u2019s regulatory body.
