Another record month!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Andrew Brisbo (@MRAexec) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MRAexec\/status\/1426197416714412033?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">August 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p \/>\n<p>The prior month saw $107 million recreation marijuana sales and $42 million for medical cannabis.<\/p>\n<p>For July, the total sales translates into $23 million in tax revenue, some of which will go to infrastructure projects, public education and individual jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In July, Michigan\u2019s marijuana industry generated $10.2 million in sales taxes as well as $12.8 million through the 10% excise tax for roads, schools, municipalities, and counties. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/31lnOMEfCN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">https:\/\/t.co\/31lnOMEfCN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David Harns (@DavidHarns) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DavidHarns\/status\/1426199241031045124?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">August 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p \/>\n<p>Earlier this week, state officials also awarded $20 million in marijuana tax revenue to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/michigan-spends-20m-in-marijuana-revenue-to-study-medical-cannabis-for-veterans-with-ptsd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fund a pair of research projects<\/a> meant to investigate the therapeutic potential of cannabis for military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.<\/p>\n<p>Most of last month\u2019s recreational <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/documents\/mra\/July_2021_Monthly_Report_732622_7.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sales<\/a> went to flower cannabis products ($63.5 million), followed by vape cartridges ($26.3 million) and edibles ($18.5 million).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_48691\" style=\"width: 564px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-48691\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-48691\" src=\"https:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-13-at-10.22.07-AM-1024x582-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"554\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-48691\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Via MRA.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>On the other side of Lake Michigan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/illinois-sets-yet-another-record-for-monthly-marijuana-sales-with-retailers-citing-a-lollapalooza-boost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">adult-use cannabis sales in Illinois matched Michigan\u2019s<\/a> at $128 million\u2014which is also a new record for the Prairie State.<\/p>\n<p>This has become a common theme across legal states amid the coronavirus pandemic.
