Texas activist Jeff LeBlanc\u2014who had a major impact on cannabis policy in the state\u2014recently passed away.<\/em><\/p>\n

In loving memory of Jeff LeBlanc \u2026<\/p>\n

Jeff LeBlanc was more than a colleague; he was a dear friend.<\/p>\n

Jeff supported marijuana reform as a matter of public policy, but he was passionate about the cause because it was personal to his family. Listen to Jeff\u2019s emotional testimony about his wife, Kay, who uses cannabis to control debilitating and chronic pain:<\/p>\n

Services to celebrate Jeff will be in Dayton, Texas this Saturday. It is ever so appropriate that we get to honor Jeff in Liberty County and over Independence Day weekend. <\/p>\n

Jeff went on to say, \u201cThis is a very close issue to home for me. My wife has nerve damage and I have no issue saying it, I said it in front of the House committee, I will be a criminal the rest of my life\u2014I have no problems with that\u2014because I refuse to see my best friend of 30+ years succumb to opioid overdose. I refuse to see that. I refuse to let a lawmaker decide that\u2019s what\u2019s best for her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jeff served as Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus and was instrumental in getting marijuana reform added to the Texas GOP Platform<\/a>. He was an excellent representative of the movement at the Capitol and in his community. Jeff\u2019s contributions to our shared cause<\/a> will not be forgotten and I am deeply grateful for our friendship.<\/p>\n
