And a California bill that would allow local jurisdictions to permit licensed cannabis lounges to sell non-marijuana foods and drinks also cleared that state\u2019s Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Both pieces of legislation now head to the Senate in their respective states.<\/p>\n<p>In Nevada, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.state.nv.us\/App\/NELIS\/REL\/81st2021\/Bill\/7877\/Overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">measure<\/a> from Assemblyman Steve Yeager (D) cleared the chamber in a 29-12 vote. It would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/nevada-lawmakers-approve-marijuana-bill-to-allow-on-site-consumption-lounges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">create two new licensing categories for cannabis businesses<\/a> in the state. One would be for \u201cretail cannabis consumption lounges\u201d and the other would be an \u201cindependent cannabis consumption lounge.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Major step forward for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SteveYeagerNV?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">@SteveYeagerNV<\/a>&#8216;s cannabis consumption lounge bill, AB341. Independent lounges would not be permitted to sell cannabis on their own, but would need to have marijuana products delivered to consumers from another source.<\/p>\n<p>That said, independent licensees could submit a request to regulators to sell cannabis that they produce or to enter into a contract with an adult-use retailer to sell their products.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s Cannabis Compliance Board would also be responsible for creating regulations for on-site facilities and setting fees for license applicants. While West Hollywood approved a local ordinance in 2017 that allowed a first-of-its-kind retailer to open, serving both marijuana and non-infused foods, it operated in a grey area under emergency regulations.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Cannabis consumption cafes and lounges could be coming to corner near you under a bill that passed the CA Assembly. AB 1034 would allow local governments to OK lounges where weed could be enjoyed on site, like the first cannabis cafe in West Hollywood.
