Separately, the Senate passed resolutions calling on officials to develop a legal psilocybin therapy program.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/marijuana-packaging-recycling-bill-filed-in-new-york-days-after-legalization-takes-effect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New York assemblymember<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> filed a marijuana packaging recycling bill to require dispensaries to collect bottles and jars from consumers who wish to return them after use and to ensure they\u2019re made from at least 50% recycled materials.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>\/ FEDERAL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/2021\/04\/27\/hhs-releases-new-buprenorphine-practice-guidelines-expanding-access-to-treatment-for-opioid-use-disorder.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Department of Health and Human Services<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> released new buprenorphine guidelines.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/missouriindependent.com\/2021\/04\/26\/nonprofit-hopes-to-free-missouri-man-serving-23-years-on-marijuana-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">former U.S. attorney for Kansas<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is working to ask a federal judge for compassionate release for a man serving 23 years in federal prison for a marijuana offense.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/law\/foreign-news\/article\/switzerland-access-to-medical-cannabis-broadened-pilot-projects-for-nonmedical-cannabis-to-be-launched\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Library of Congress<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> published an overview of Switzerland\u2019s marijuana laws.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wassermanschultz.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=2609\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and Dan Crenshw (R-TX)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> filed a resolution that claims marijuana use increases the risk of infertility.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepLowenthal\/status\/1384965430935265280\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rep. Alan Lowenthal (D-CA)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tweeted, \u201cIt\u2019s time to legalize marijuana on the federal level. The war on drugs was a colossal failure, which did nothing to combat genuine health problems, like addiction, while criminalizing and disrupting whole communities.
