A New Hype?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Cannabis-Light-2-Edited-compressor-1024x576-1.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\"> <\/p>\n<p><em>Cannabis Light is the latest cannabis hype coming out of Europe, where several countries have loopholes allowing the growth and sale of cannabis containing low THC (usually less than 1%) and high <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/cbd-medicine-or-food\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBD<\/a> levels. It\u2019s already big business.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Cannabis Light causing normalisation<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"dropcaps one-class\" id=\"cr-dropcaps-769\">T<\/span>he loopholes were only discovered a couple years ago. Switzerland was the first country in 2016 to decriminalize cannabis with less than 1% THC <a href=\"https:\/\/sensiseeds.com\/en\/blog\/cbd-weed-switzerland-one-step-before-legalisation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as a tobacco substitute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Italy would follow quickly when a law regulating hemp production went into effect. Originally designed for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/category\/videos\/hemp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">industrial hemp<\/a>, the Italian government however, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/04\/21\/world\/europe\/italy-cannabis-flowers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forgot to regulate the hemp flowers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2281\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-2281 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Cannabis-Light-2-Edited-compressor-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Cannabis Light\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Three different Cannabis Light packages from Switzerland.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The difference between Switzerland and Italy mainly being Cannabis Light is regulated as tobacco in Switzerland, while in Italy Cannabis Light <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/04\/21\/world\/europe\/italy-cannabis-flowers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cannot be \u2018smoked or eaten\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Visiting the Cannabis Light farms<\/h2>\n<p>To really understand the green wave Cannabis Light is producing, we went on a road trip to Cannabis Light farms in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/category\/videos\/switzerland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Switzerland<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/category\/videos\/italy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2282\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-2282 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/cannabiscultivatornews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Cannabis-Light-1-Edited-compressor-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"cannabis light\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Somewhere in Switzerland\u2026 <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As you can see, it looks very much like the images you are used to seeing from the Green Triangle in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/tag\/california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">California<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>And in other European countries?<\/h2>\n<p>Cannabis Light can also be found in several other European countries, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/category\/videos\/germany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Germany<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/category\/videos\/austria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Austria<\/a>, Luxembourg, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/category\/videos\/spain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spain<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/category\/videos\/france\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">France<\/a>. But, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/europe\/cannabis-coffee-shop-paris-france-weed-smoking-close-marijuana-a8407041.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as this article points out<\/a>, it doesn\u2019t always work out well. Several Cannabis Light coffeeshops opened in Paris, but were quickly shut down and under investigation by the French government.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/legal-cannabis-in-canada-legalization-1-0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian cannabis companies<\/a> are already <a href=\"https:\/\/mjbizdaily.com\/canadas-lgc-capital-buys-large-stake-in-italys-easyjoint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">investing in Cannabis Light farms<\/a> in Italy.<\/p>\n<h2>Response of the WHO, EU, and UN<\/h2>\n<p>And there\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannabisnewsnetwork.com\/cbd-game-changer-hemp-industry-blocked-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European CBD regulation on the rise<\/a>, which could make the lives of these Cannabis Light farmers a lot more difficult.
