Whether by eating too much THC due to inexperience or accidentally ingesting edibles unintentionally, citizens have visited emergency rooms or called poison control hotlines after an intense, overwhelming edibles experience.<\/p>\n<p>Intending to proactively address these issues in California, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kindpeoples.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KindPeoples<\/a> is launching \u201cGo Low &amp; Slow with Cannabis Edibles,\u201d a public safety campaign that informs consumers of the most important facts about cannabis-infused foods.<\/p>\n<p>Using posters, social media posts, videos, blogs, brochures and ads in local alternative weekly papers, the\u00a0 \u201cGo Low &amp; Slow\u201d\u00a0 campaign illustrates these safety tips:<\/p>\n<p>Use a Low Dose \u2013 5 to 10 milligrams of <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabisnow.com\/?s=THC\">THC<\/a><br \/>\nBe Patient \u2013 Expect to Wait 2 Hours Before Feeling Effects<br \/>\nDon\u2019t Drive \u2013 Eating THC will impair your driving<br \/>\nDon\u2019t Mix with Alcohol \u2013 Combining Edibles and Alcohol Isn\u2019t Recommended<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/cannabisnow.com\/children-accidentally-exposed-pharmaceuticals-375-often-cannabis\/\">Keep Away from Kids<\/a> \u2013 Lock Up Your Cannabis Products<\/p>\n<p>Created by edibles expert <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabisnow.com\/author\/elise-mcdonough\/\">Elise McDonough<\/a>, author of \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.powells.com\/book\/official-high-times-cannabis-cookbook-more-than-50-irresistible-recipes-that-will-get-you-high-9781452101330\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Official High Times Cannabis Cookbook<\/a>\u201d and KIndPeoples\u2019 public relations specialist, this PSA campaign hopes to prevent negative experiences with cannabis-infused foods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost commonly, people will eat some THC and get impatient with the long onset time,\u201d McDonough says. \u201cAfter 30 minutes or so, they\u2019ll eat more THC, and when effects start to be felt after two hours, the experience can be unpleasant and overwhelming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA), also known as Prop 64, made it legal for any adult age 21 or older to purchase or possess up to one ounce of cannabis, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabisnow.com\/new-cannabis-contraband-brands-products-now-outlawed-californias-new-rules\/\">creates regulations<\/a> to govern the manufacture, advertising, packaging, labeling and THC content of cannabis-infused foods.<\/p>\n<p>Changes in the law require all edibles to be limited to 100 milligrams of THC per package, with servings of just 10 mg clearly marked or separated. <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabisnow.com\/recipe-strain-specific-thca-tincture\/\">Tinctures<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabisnow.com\/wellness-capsule\/\">capsules<\/a> will still be allowed to contain up to 1000 mg per package.
