M<\/span>aybe it\u2019s a cultural thing, but I\u2019ve never really understood the appeal of most of the gifts in the \u201c12 Days of Christmas\u201d song: Why would my true love buy me a fruit tree, 23 birds and 50 people? What am I supposed to do with these gifts? I kind of gather that the partridge sits in the pear tree, but otherwise I\u2019m at a loss.<\/p>\n Five golden rings, on the other hand, is quite a gift. I mean, even if we\u2019re talking rings of less than stellar quality \u2014 some gold plating perhaps \u2014 it\u2019s certainly quite a gesture, if a somewhat confusing one. I mean, am I supposed to wear a ring on each finger? Of which hand? Or is it two on one and three on the other? How do I decide which hand gets the extra ring?
